<< A good multi meter will enable you to measure all sorts. From voltage to amps, resistance, continuity and more. A must for anyone contemplating any electrical work. A basic model will suffice but a more expensive model will contain more features.

A soldering iron or micro gas torch will be >> necessary for any soldering work. I personally prefer a gas powered model for ease of use around the vehicle.

<< A pair of side cutters and a combined set of wire strippers and crimpers will give neat strong connections.

Other items to include are a range of connectors including bullet, spade and ring. A good roll of insulation tape is a must for insulating and bounding wires together. I personally like to use shrink tubing on my connections for a weather proof insulated finish. A general purpose set of screwdrivers for attaching ‘P’ clips etc and a roll of soldering wire. Of course you will come across other items such as cable ties etc, but you can build up your equipment as and when required although the above is a good starter kit.
