For filling and topping up of the various components on a land Rover there are a number of methods you can use. For filling an empty Gear box or axle I start by using an oil suction gun and then use a force feed oil can to finally bring it up to the required level. For general topping up I go straight for the force feed oil can. For topping up and filling the engine I use either the can the oil comes in or if I want to measure it as I go I will use a pouring can. I always use a funnel as well when filling the engine. The force feed oil can is also ideal when topping up the swivel pin housing as access can be a bit tricky. Whatever method you use when using transmission oil it’s always easier when the oil is warmed up a bit first. Do this by putting some hot water in a bucket and standing the container of transmission oil in this for a while. When topping up the coolant system measure out the ratio of water to anti freeze into a clean container before adding so you can be sure that you have the correct protection.
